Before you install
Get ADHDNotes for Windows 11 from the Microsoft Store, or download the macOS 13 or later app for Apple Silicon. Intel Mac downloads remain unpublished.
Choose how your library starts
A source is a folder that physically owns files. The Library presents several sources as one working collection.
Start with a managed source
Choose a managed source when you are starting fresh. ADHDNotes creates the folder you select as its normal write destination.
Connect a linked source
Choose a linked source for an existing Typora, Obsidian, research, or project folder. Files stay in place; no vault conversion or bulk copy is required.
Connect more than one
Personal notes, a read-only reference folder, and an external research drive can coexist. Pick one writable source as the default write source for new files.
Choose an access mode
A writable source allows editing, note creation, images, and Markdown-backed annotations. A read-only source remains browsable and searchable, but the write boundary is enforced in the desktop process, not merely hidden in the interface.
| Mode | Best for | Writes |
|---|---|---|
| Read and write | Your active notes | Allowed inside the registered root |
| Read-only | Archives and references | Rejected at the filesystem boundary |
Write the first note
- Open Library and choose the source or folder.
- Use the new-note action and name the file in place.
- Write normally. Markdown markers step aside when the cursor moves elsewhere.
- Press
Cmd+/to see the complete source, thenEscto return.
# Reading question
What changes when the query and key projections share weights?
> [!QUESTION] Does this still hold for multi-query attention?
What happens next
ADHDNotes indexes supported text as a private, rebuildable cache. It never makes the search database authoritative. Continue with callouts and highlights, or learn how Find My Thought returns to an exact passage.
