Find My Thought

Search with the words you remember—or the meaning you remember—and reopen the original document at the useful passage.

Two searches with different jobs

Cmd+Shift+F opens Find My Thought across enabled sources. Cmd+F stays inside the current Markdown note, PDF, or notebook.

Current-document find

Markdown includes Next, Previous, Select all, Replace, Replace all, Match case, regex, and whole word controls. On a PDF, the shortcut focuses Find in PDF and highlights each occurrence. On a notebook, it focuses Find in notebook and moves through matching cells.

Words first, meaning second

ADHDNotes normalizes Markdown notes, extractable PDF page text, notebook cell source, Marks, and Snips into anchored passages. SQLite FTS5 and BM25 paint exact-word results immediately. A bundled local embedding model then fuses in meaning-based candidates once; semantic-only results carry a Meaning badge. There is no cloud request and no search-mode switch.

Filters, scopes, and origins

Limit results by source or resource kind. A PDF result includes its page, notebook results retain a cell anchor, and capture results retain their Mark or Snip identity. The separate Annotations scope searches highlights, callouts, PDF notes, and notebook Markdown-cell projections without duplicating them into the default document results.

Fresh after changes

Creating, editing, deleting, or renaming a supported file schedules a bounded update. Content hashes and modification-time/size checks skip unchanged documents. File watching narrows ordinary saves to the affected document.

Rebuild without risk

The index is private derived state. Rebuilding it reparses enabled sources and never rewrites Markdown, PDFs, or captured content. Source files remain authoritative even if the entire FTS5 database is removed.
